Electric Grid presents its Plan of Innovation and Technological Development 2012-2016.
Electric Grid of Spain renews its R + D + i with the new Plan of Innovation and Technological Development 2012-2016. This new program provides for measures aimed at developing an integrated transportation network at European level and the incorporation of new technology and operating resources, such as demand management, energy storage and smart grids to achieve the strategic objectives more efficiently.
The Plan of Innovation and Technological Development, which will take place over the next five years, establishes a framework embodied in four key areas: Key actions, management, monitoring and dissemination, technology watch and technology demonstration platforms.
The key activities constitute the core of the new plan and are designed to promote a paneuropean transport network, and develop new resources for the operation of the electrical system and new solutions to the transportation network to include more sustainable development.
In addition, each of these actions have been defined priority areas of work such as managing demand, the electric car and drive smart grids, increased transport capacity, improved forecasting systems, real-time monitoring of facilities, or reducing their environmental impact.
At the same time, these priority areas are displayed in concrete actions, such as research and technical and economic implications for transport and operation of possible evacuation submarine networks offshore wind generation, the development of devices for power flow control of the voltage lines and substations, or improved tools for forecasting the demand and the unmanaged generation (wind and solar).
The implementation of this plan will be a quantum leap over the current level of commitment of the company with innovation and technological development as a key element in improving the performance of their responsibilities as TSO (Transmission System Operator) of the Spanish electricity system.
