EFICIENTIC ENDS WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF 800 GALICIAN`S STUDENTS
EficienTIC was the first collaboration between the entities ENERGYLAB, GRADIANT and CITEXVI, with free activities for centers financed by FECYT (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology) and with the participation of 100 middle and high school students each day ,
EficienTIC in figures:
- A total of 800 students learned EficienTIC activities.
- 8 sessions over 4 weeks.
- Involving 15 different study centers.
The activities were developed in eight days, at the premises of the previously mentioned entities.
The main objective of these activities was to raise awareness for students on the efficient use of technology and energy, and the use of both to protect the environment. Students learned among other things, how a hydrogen fuel cell, such as mobile phones have evolved, that way a good housing insulation prevents energy losses, as they must use the computer to save, how to apply facial recognition, how to turn on a radio with the heat of a candle or how a Scalextric can work through bikes.
Have been used different resources to facilitate the explanation of the activities, including: an application created in Gradiant as biometric recognition, a thermographic camera to see the effects of different types of insulation in a home EnergyLab organized by, a panel that can measure the consumption of different types of light bulbs and tubes, also might have a clearer vision of a hydrogen system on a small scale ....
The students learned the concept of "energy harvesting" that exploits the residual energy in the environment (a candle for example) and thus produce electricity (for storage or feeding low-power systems).
All these activities were completed with an initial talk about energy efficiency and a visit to the building CITEXVI.
A large number of center were participants in these activities.
